South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame accepting 2025 nominees

COLUMBIA, S.C. (Oct. 30, 2024) – The South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame is accepting nominations for enshrinement with the Class of 2025 and beyond.

 

Any person may submit an individual for consideration by the SCAHOF’s Nominating Committee and the basic guidelines for a nominee are:

 

• Individual must either be from South Carolina or achieved their success in South Carolina;

• Individual who made outstanding contributions and achieved high levels of success, distinction and/or recognition;

• Individual should have an honorable and respectable reputation/public image.

 

If someone has already been nominated, there is no need to re-submit anything. The Nominating Committee has the responsibility of paring down nearly 200 names to a workable number. Each member of the Board of Directors and all past presidents vote on the maximum of 10 inductees.

 

The 2025 Induction Ceremony & Banquet is set for Monday, May 19, at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center with tables/sponsorships being available in January.

 

Last year in front of 800 people, the SCAHOF enshrined former S.C. State football coach Oree Banks; Harvard and pro basketball player Allison Feaster of Chester; PGA Tour member Lucas Glover of Clemson and Greenville; Anthony Johnson of North Charleston, College of Charleston and the NBA; UNC basketball standout Ivory Latta of McConnells; USC running back Marcus Lattimore of Spartanburg; former Clemson baseball coach Jack Leggett; former Columbia-area basketball coach William Partlow; NBA player and coach Clifford Ray of Union; and Winnsboro’s Tyler Thigpen of Coastal Carolina and the NFL.

 

The group also recognized Clyde Wrenn of Chester with The Willie Jeffries Ambassador for Sports Award; George Bennett of Clemson with The Bobby Richardson Sportsmanship; Otto German of Mt. Pleasant with The Doc Blanchard Citizen for Sports Award; and Debbie Antonelli of Mt. Pleasant with The Herman Helms Excellence in Media Award.
