COLUMBIA, S.C. (June 15, 2026) - Former radio sports reporter and longtime Columbia attorney Jim Corbett has been named President of the South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame (SCAHOF) for 2026–27. Corbett succeeds Randy Warrick of Aiken, S.C., Executive Director Andy Solomon announced today.
Solomon also announced the organization's other officers for the coming year. Rick Sanford of Columbia, a 1998 SCAHOF inductee, will serve as First Vice President. Columbia veterinarian Dr. Eddie Robinson has been named Second Vice President, while Charleston native Lee Glaze will serve as Third Vice President.
“The Board of Directors is fortunate to have Jim Corbett serve as this year’s president as he has a unique background as a former sports journalist and as a respected attorney,” said Solomon. “We will benefit greatly from his vast experiences.”
Corbett has called Columbia home since enrolling at the University of South Carolina in 1979. A native of Oakland, New Jersey, he was named the 1985 Radio Journalist of the Year by the Radio-Television News Directors Association of the Carolinas (RTNDAC). He has also received numerous honors for his leadership and service through the Jaycees and the Knights of Columbus.
“It’s an honor to take my turn and serve as President for the coming year,” said Corbett. “The South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame promotes so many of the virtues of sports that athletes, coaches, administrators, the media, and especially the fans learn from, virtues which help strengthen our society in many ways. Athletic competition creates and strengthens the teamwork we use in other facets of our life.
“I’m grateful to continue to learn these lessons through our outstanding yearly induction banquet honoring those who have worked hard to excel and achieve. It’s also great fun promoting good values through the SCAHOF. I’m really looking forward to expanding our display at the South Carolina State Museum and having a permanent place to remember and honor our inductees and their accomplishments.”
Sanford, a Rock Hill native, starred as a defensive back at the University of South Carolina from 1975-78, earning All-America honors as a senior. He was selected by the New England Patriots with the 25th overall pick in the first round of the 1979 NFL Draft, becoming the first Gamecock ever chosen in the opening round. Sanford played seven seasons in the NFL with the Patriots (1979-84) and Seattle Seahawks (1985). He is a retired Doctor of Chiropractic and remains active as a Columbia-area radio personality.
Robinson earned degrees from Clemson University and Tuskegee University and owned and operated Midlands Veterinary Practice for 30 years. A former president of IPTAY, he currently serves on the Board of Directors of Spoleto Festival USA. His extensive community service includes leadership roles with the Clemson University Foundation Board, Clemson University Alumni National Council, Clemson University Board of Visitors, Saluda Shoals Foundation Board, and the University of South Carolina Small Business Development Center Advisory Board.
Glaze grew up on James Island and attended Fort Johnson High School before enrolling at The Citadel. There, he distinguished himself as a two-sport standout in football and baseball, earning first team All-Southern Conference honors in both sports and being named the Southern Conference Athlete of the Year in 1986. He is a member of The Citadel Athletic Hall of Fame, the Charleston Baseball Hall of Fame, and the James Island High School’s Athletic Hall of Fame. Since 1994, he has lived in Sumter, where he has worked with Dominion Energy and raised his family.
The South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame annually recognizes and honors individuals whose achievements have brought distinction to the state's rich athletic heritage.
The SCAHOF's induction Class of 2027 will be announced in January and the 65th Annual Induction Ceremony & Banquet will be held on May 17 at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center.
