Seats remain for 62nd annual S.C. Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony & Banquet

 

COLUMBIA, S.C. (April 30, 2024) – University of South Carolina running back Marcus Lattimore of Duncan, Clemson University golfer Lucas Glover of Greenville and University of North Carolina’s Ivory Latta of McConnells highlight the 10-member South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame’s induction Class of 2024. 

Seats remain for the 62nd Annual South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony & Banquet.

The event, which sells out annually, will be held on Monday, May 20, at the Columbia Convention Center beginning at 5:30pm.

 

Being enshrined this year with the Class of 2024 – the largest ever – are former SC State football coach Oree Banks, Harvard and pro basketball standout Allison Feaster of Chester, Clemson and PGA star Lucas Glover of Greenville, College of Charleston and NBA player Anthony Johnson of North Charleston, UNC basketball great Ivory Latta of McConnells, former USC running back Marcus Lattimore of Duncan, former Clemson baseball coach Jack Leggett, Columbia-area basketball coach and influencer William Partlow, NBA player and coach Clifford Ray of Union, and Coastal Carolina and NFL quarterback Tyler Thigpen of Winnsboro.

Being recognized with the Willie Jeffries Ambassador for Sports Award is Clyde Wrenn from the University of South Carolina while Clemson icon George Bennett will be honored with the Bobby Richardson Sportsmanship Award. Otto German from the College of Charleston will receive the Felix “Doc” Blanchard Citizen for Sports Award while Emmy Award-winning basketball broadcaster Debbie Antonelli will be honored with the Herman Helms Excellence in Media Award.

NOTE: The SCAHOF Board of Directors voted unanimously this fall to expand the class from eight to 10 inductees. Previously, nine were enshrined in 1973, 1974 and 1978. The ’73 class featured Frank McGuire, Pinky Babb and Larry Doby while the ’74 class featured Joe Frazier, Lou Brissie and Oliver Dawson. The ’78 class was highlighted by Beth Daniel, John Heisman and Cale Yarborough.
